This is the EXACT code to enter. I just unistalled three old kernels using this EXACT code:

sudo apt-get remove –purge 2.6.28-14-*

This code deleted the Ubuntu 9.04 2.6.28.14 kernel

We ran into the same problem and resolved it by editing the /WEB-INF/web.xml.
We added
/axis2-web/index.jsp
to the welcome-file-list entry.

We also added
1
to the servlet (apache-Axis servlet) entry .
